Creating and Managing Leave Requests
The TEAM App gets regular updates from our Human Resources and Payroll personnel. The system is then updated with employee’s leave balances.
Viewing your Leave Balances
From the top navbar, navigate to Human Resources → Leave Balances.
Under Your Leave Balances you’ll see four cards, each showing your current hours:
- Sick Leave
- Vacation
- Personal Leave
- Personal Necessity
The small Updated [date] note next to the heading tells you when HR last refreshed the balance data. If your account has no balance data on file yet, you’ll see a notice instead of the cards.
You can also peek at these numbers anytime from the Logged in as… dropdown in the top-right of the navbar.
Submitting a leave request
Click New Request (on the Leave Balances page) or Human Resources → New Leave Request (/humanresources/leaverequest). The form has three steps.
Step 1: General Information
- Leave Start Date – the first day of leave (required).
- Duration – choose One Day, or Through date listed… to span multiple days. Choosing the multi-day option enables the Leave End Date field.
- Length – choose Full Day, or Through time listed… for a partial day. The partial option enables two time fields:
- Time Clocking Out or Leaving
- Time Clocking In or Returning
- Times step in 5-minute increments (on supported devices), and the return time must be after the departure time.
- What kind of leave are you requesting? – pick one of the leave types: Employee Illness, Employee Medical Appointment, Personal Leave, Vacation, Personal Necessity, Comp. Time, Floating Holiday, Worker’s Comp., Bereavement, Jury Duty, or School Business.
Step 2: Leave-Type Details
This step shows information specific to the leave type you picked (including which balance it will be deducted from). Two types ask for extra details:
- Bereavement – Immediate Family Member and Miles.
- School Business – event Name, Description, City, Event Cost, Travel Cost (if not driving), Mileage (if driving), and which Meals (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner) are included.
Click Continue to proceed, or Back to return to Step 1 and change your leave details.
Step 3: Employee Certification
Read the two statements and tick both checkboxes – the first acknowledges the sick/personal-leave provisions in the Employee Contract and Handbook, and the second certifies that the information you entered is true and correct. Then choose:
- Save as Draft – saves your progress without sending it to your supervisor. You can come back and finish it later.
- Submit – sends the request to your supervisor for review. A Request Submitted confirmation appears with a Reference ID; click OK to return to the Leave Requests & Balances page.

Tracking your requests
On the Leave Balances page, scroll to Your Leave Requests. Each row shows the Leave Date(s), Leave Type, and a Status badge:
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Saved but not yet submitted. |
| Pending | Submitted – awaiting supervisor review. |
| In Progress | Approved by your supervisor – pending HR processing. |
| Approved | Fully approved. |
| Denied | Denied by your supervisor or by HR. |
| Cancelled | You cancelled the request. |
If a request has clarification messages, a small comment badge with a count appears next to the status.
Cancelled requests stay in your list for 7 days, then drop off automatically.
Editing, downloading, and cancelling
The buttons on the right of each row are enabled based on the request’s status:
- Details – (submitted requests) expands the clarification thread and your private note (see below).
- Edit – (drafts only) reopens the request in the form to finish it.
- PDF – (submitted requests) opens a PDF copy of the request in a new tab.
- Cancel – (drafts and pending requests) cancels the request. You’ll be asked to confirm; this cannot be undone.
